Making an Application
A foreign national, who arrives in Ireland at our frontiers, can make an application for a refugee declaration to the Minister for Justice and once it is made, the applicant is granted leave to enter and remain in the State until there is a final determination.
The person should present themselves as soon as possible or at the first opportunity to the Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner - a body which is independent of the Minister at 79/83 Lower Mount St. Dublin 2 or any authorised Immigration Officer at the port of entry or elsewhere. The ORAC is independent in the exercise of all it’s functions under the Refugee Act.
The Form of Claim should be fully and accurately completed.
